4.What are the different types of UPS batteries?
Mainly there are three different types of batteries that can be used in a UPS system depending upon the usage and case variation of your battery usage in a different type of environment.
Lead-Acid UPS Battery
Most of the traditional UPS systems have lead-acid batteries installed with them because of their cheap rate. Lead batteries contain liquid acid inside of their plates and lead-acid is used to store the electrical charges when the mixture of distilled water and lead-acid stored between electrodes of the lead-acid battery.
This UPS battery is one of the most common types of battery that can be used in a UPS system. If you are using a lead-acid battery you may require to check the liquid level and fill it accordingly because if the liquid level gets low your battery plates may start getting damage. So, try to maintain the liquid lead-acid level in your UPS battery.
Cadmium UPS Battery
These batteries are prepared with nickel hydroxide and cadmium hydroxide. These UPS batteries are specially designed to operate UPS system under severe weather conditions including environmental changes as well.
These batteries are expensive as compared to lead-acid batteries because they contain such toxic materials which can only be maintained and handled by the experts if your battery is not working properly. The lifecycle of nickel-cadmium batteries is longer as compared to other traditional batteries. Countries present in the middle-east mostly use these batteries so, that they can easily handle weather conditions in electrical problems.
Lithium-ion batteries are becoming a more and more reliable and significant option in electricity systems. Lithium-ion batteries are now considered as the more preferable solution for uninterrupted power supply and also getting more in the market batteries.
Lithium batteries are more significant in terms of longer lifecycle providing a higher energy ratio and more reliability. These batteries are much lighter as compared to normal batteries and because of no liquid usage during their instruction, you can easily mount them in any desired direction as per your system demands.
On the other hand, if you use a lithium-ion battery in your UPS system it will work more effectively and are maintenance-free batteries.
